IMH Statewide Meeting: Holding the Baby While Holding the Caregiver: The Challenges of Simultaneously Attending to Caregivers and Infants when Providing Parent-Infant Psychotherapy
March 28th, 2012
Lansing Area
Presented by: Sarah Miller Shea, Ph.D., LMSW, IMH-E® (III)
This workshop, designed for Infant Mental Health practitioners with some degree of experience, will explore the challenges of insuring that the parent-infant relationship remains a focus in Infant Mental Health practice, particularly when working with caregivers who present with complex needs. Case examples will be used to illustrate ways of addressing the individual needs of the parent without losing sight of the infant and the parent-infant relationship issues. Participants will share their own case examples for the purpose of discussion.
