Understanding the contributions of child development, individual differences, goodness of fit between children and their physical and social environments, and behavioral expression of challenges in self-regulation will be used as a frame for planning and implementing intervention. Methods of clinical reasoning and practical suggestions for thoughtfully planned home- and center-based session will be discussed. Strategies to help parents and other professionals understand sensory processing disorders will be discussed and illustrated with case studies.

This workshop is designed for a multidisciplinary audience of professionals knowledgeable about child development. It is appropriate for professionals at all levels of experience from those unfamiliar with sensory integration to those experienced with sensory integration intervention with older children.
