Michigan 4C Association Seeks Applications for New Executive Director

 The Board of Directors of the Michigan 4C (Community Coordinated Child Care) Association is accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. The mission of the Michigan 4C Association is to foster children?s success and development through service to the early childhood care and education community. The Association includes 16 regional 4C offices which provide services to parents and the early childhood care and education community in all counties in Michigan. The mission is accomplished through child care provider professional development and child care referral services for families, as well as through collaborative initiatives with other organizations working on behalf of children on matters that affect the child care system. The Michigan 4C Association is a member of the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA). The Board of Directors is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual who can lead the organization into the future as well as manage the day-to-day operations of the Association. The Executive Director plays a pivotal role in advocating on behalf of young children and the child care community. The Michigan 4C Association employs 12 individuals and has a total budget of $8 M, of which $7 M is contractual and paid to regional 4C offices, parents and child care providers. The Board of Directors is made up of 15 members, 12 of whom represent community interests in child care and three of whom are regional 4C office directors chosen by their peers.

Parent Infant Therapist

The Parent-Infant Therapist is responsible for providing intensive mental health treatment and case management services to families with infants and toddlers who meet the eligibility criteria for the Parent-Infant Program. Using the Infant Mental Health Model, the Parent-Infant Therapist will provide a variety of services including developmental assessment and guidance, case management, parent-infant psychotherapy and provision of concrete services, with infant and toddlers (0-3 years) and their families. Services are delivered in the home and community, based on the needs identified by the family.  

Candidates for the Parent-Infant Therapist will meet the criteria for Qualified Child Mental Health Professional, consistent with current certification standards for children’s programs. They must have a Masters in Social Work or related field from an accredited program and the corresponding State of Michigan licensure (LLMSW, LMSW, LLP,) or application for licensure within 3 months of hire. In addition they must have one year of supervised experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families. Candidates should have or be working toward a Level III MI-AIMH Endorsement. Other requirements include: knowledge of child development, a nonjudgmental interpersonal approach that reflects cultural sensitivity to the unique and diverse experiences of families served, the ability to assess and intervene within complex family and community systems, and a willingness to be flexible, patient and creative.Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and appropriate driving record.

The Parent-Infant Therapist must demonstrate competencies in the following areas: observation of parent/infant interaction, developmental assessment, diagnostic skills including use of DSM IV and 0-3 diagnostic criteria, understanding of parallel process in the use of therapeutic work, and collaboration with internal and external service providers.  

Hours are based on client availability. Some evening hours may need to be flexed from the 8:30 - 5:00 work day to accommodate client work schedules.

Mental Health Clinician - Infant Mental Health

 Easter Seals is looking for a Mental Health Clinician - Infant Mental Health to be responsible for:

  • providing relationship-focused therapeutic services to children ages 0-3 and their caregivers.
  • direct and indirect home-based treatment services for children and families with mental illness.
  • providing individual, group, conjoint or family psychotherapy and support services to children with severe emotional disturbance and their family.
  • conducting clinical assessments, developing diagnoses, and participating in developing person/family centered treatment plans with client families. Monitors client progress and coordinates appropriate mental health and other needed services.
  • maintaining an electronic and paper chart which includes required documentation of services provided, progress notes, treatment plans, periodic reviews and client rights documents.
  • participation in individual supervision and team meetings to review progress, identify barriers and develop strategies for better assisting families in reaching their goals.
  • participation in utilization review committee meetings for the purpose of reviewing case records for contract compliancy, quality assurance, appropriateness of services and treatment progress.
  • providing 24/7 crisis intervention availability to help offset potential risk of self-harm or conditions which could lead to out of home placement.
  • ensuring that paperwork is maintained in accordance with Medicaid and Department of Community Health guidelines, as well as Easter Seals policies and procedures.
  • authorizing medically necessary services for all consumers.

Consultants for Military Communities sought by ZERO TO THREE (posted 11/06/08)

ZERO TO THREE seeks 10 qualified consultants to provide training at selected military communities engaged in ZERO TO THREE's training and technical assistance programs. Using a pre-established curriculum, consultants will train multidisciplinary professionals and consult with communities. In addition, consultants will develop consultation packages based on individual community’s needs and interests. Experienced professionals who have expertise in infant and toddler mental health and development and who are familiar with military communities are encouraged to contact LaVeta Mckinney for information by emailing her at lmckinney@zerotothree.org .
